Care Corner Photo Journal Page 141

Sometimes August seems so long ago. It was in August, right before school, when all those workbooks were piled up in my classroom waiting to be labeled. And so it began when I got my class list that August day. You make labels with 26 names. 26 new Care Corner kids. 26 first graders, most of whom who don’t even know yet. And you labeled everything including the workbooks…including the handwriting book. The handwriting book went home today. We finished it. It’s always the first book we finish and it makes me think back to when it was just in a pile in August and now we have used it almost every day since. We still have days…weeks…left of school. We still have lots of lessons and lots of handwriting activities. But the list of “the lasts” is starting: the last share book making the rounds, the last person to have the traveling Pooh Bag, the last Reader of the Day calendar…the last page in our handwriting book. June 5 is a long way away. I don’t even want to think about the end of school. But today the handwriting book went home…and so it begins.
