Care Corner Photo Journal - Volume 6
Today's saint lesson was almost 15 minutes late. In fact, it was almost canceled. Tim's schedule was off because of mass and an academic award assembly. So...our scheduled time was not working out and, with his phone off, we weren't sure of the delay. I had just told the kids we could wait 5 more minutes and then we would have to cancel until next week. When Tim finally contacted us we both had enough time to work it in so...the timing worked out. What I didn't know...is that the timing would actually be perfect. Today we learned about St. Cecilia, patron saint of music...perfect timing as we prepare our song for the Christmas program. We learned about St. Kateri Tekakwitha...perfect timing as we learn about Native Americans. He taught us about St. Paul and how a journey changed his heart and brought him closer Jesus. Perfect timing for our Advent journey. And...he taught us about St. Nicholas and how this bishop gave gifts secretly so that it would be about the "giving" and not about the "giver". Perfect timing as we took our November money to the poor box in church. We purposely go in the afternoon so not to draw attention to ourselves as "givers" but to pray for those we are "giving" to. After we put the money in the Poor Box we sit in a prayer circle and we talk about how we don't know who will receive our money and they won't know who gave it...but God will know. And...isn't that how St. Nicholas would have wanted it to be? So the saint lesson that started out late turned out to be the saint lesson with perfect timing.
