Care Corner Photo Journal - Volume 4
They have spent a lot of time with Bessie already this year but last week was the first time we let her out of the cage. Last year we did it a little too quickly and she kept running back in her cage and wouldn't sit and visit with the kids. So this year we talked about "acclimation" and letting Bessie get used to us...our scents...our voices...our presence. So after several weeks of sitting by her cage and reading to her and being with her...we let her out of the cage. She didn't retreat to her cage or to that corner where she feels safe. She stayed to be with them. They are her friends...they care for her...they love her but that part...she already knew.
