And so it begins…well not really. Lent begins tomorrow…not today. But we start the introduction to our Lenten Journey today. During Lent we do not use the word “alleluia”. It is not in our prayers, our songs or our Bible readings in school or in church. So today in Care Corner we had to bury the Alleluia until after Lent. We do this by writing “alleluia” on one side of a Lenten heart and our Lenten prayer on the other side. We hang them on our religion board with the “alleluia” part buried against the board. Our Lenten prayers will help us be better Christians and bring our hearts closer to Jesus. I told the kids today it is a very special journey we will take together. It will be sad, serious and solemn…but it has a glorious ending. After Easter when we have our Alleluia Party we will unbury our alleluias. But today our religion board is full of sincere prayers from the hearts of these young Christians as they prepare for a very special Lenten journey together. And so it begins…
